To the Honorable
Club Chambers,
Hongkong 12th October, 1863.
The Acting Colonial Secretary-
Sir,
I have the honor to enclose a notice served upon me by the Police for payment of twenty dollars for Lighting Rates on one dog after the 18th of September ultimo. On the 3rd instant I sent the amount demanded to the Colonial Treasury by my Clerk who was sent back to me with a message to the effect that the time for payment had elapsed and that application would be made to the Court of Summary Jurisdiction for a warrant to recover the sum in question together with interest and costs.
